You cancelled a subscription, but another payment has appeared. The confirmation is in one inbox, the charge is on a bank statement, and the provider’s reply does not quite answer your question. Before you can decide what to do next, you have to piece the story together.
The UK Subscription Recovery Toolkit, also called SubRecovery Toolkit, gives UK consumers a place to organise that work: record what happened, keep supporting evidence together, review possible next steps and prepare correspondence.
Start with one subscription and a clear timeline
Choose the subscription you want to resolve first. Record the provider, the relevant charges and what you have already done. Add the date you tried to cancel, any confirmation you received and the replies that followed.
Keep facts separate from assumptions. “Cancellation email received on 8 October” is more useful than “they must have cancelled it”. If a date or amount is uncertain, check the original record rather than filling the gap from memory.
The toolkit lets you record charges, refunds and payment methods, build a timeline and track case status. You can use Activity to record further replies and set your own follow-up reminders.
Bring the evidence together
A cancellation confirmation, a payment record and a provider’s reply each show a different part of the story. Keeping them alongside the case makes it easier to explain the problem without repeatedly searching your inbox.
The app includes supporting-file storage for your case. Keep your original records as well, and add only information relevant to the issue. Payment records and correspondence may contain sensitive details, so take care with shared devices and any files you later send to someone else.
Review your options before making a demand
An unwanted charge does not, by itself, establish which remedy applies. The contract, how you signed up, the dates and the steps already taken can matter.
The toolkit’s options assessment uses the facts you enter to provide general information, with supporting sources and uncertainty handling. Read the result carefully, check that your inputs are accurate and follow up on anything the assessment cannot settle.
This is a way to prepare your next step. It does not determine your legal entitlement or guarantee that a provider, card issuer or ombudsman will agree with your position.
Prepare a letter you can check and send
Once you have organised the facts, the app can help you create cancellation, refund and complaint letter drafts. You can edit and preview the wording before deciding whether to use it.
Check every name, date, amount and statement against your records. Remove anything that does not fit your circumstances, complete any placeholders and make sure the request says what you actually want the recipient to do.
You remain in control of sending it. The toolkit does not contact providers, cancel subscriptions, connect to bank accounts or submit chargebacks on your behalf.
Try the preview before buying full access
The preview lets you save one case, use the options assessment, add supporting files and create, edit and preview letter drafts.
Full access adds:
- Unlimited cases.
- PDF and Word letter downloads.
- Case-pack downloads.
- Encrypted backup creation.
- Licence use on up to three devices.
Full access is a one-off purchase rather than a subscription. Review the app’s current access comparison and licence details before purchasing.
Understand where your records are kept
Your case details stay in the browser on the device you use. There is no automatic cloud sync, and using the licence on another device does not automatically bring your cases with you.
Clearing browser data can remove your work. Keep original files and, with full access, create encrypted backups that you store safely. Keep the backup password secure: a lost password cannot be recovered. Ordinary browser storage and downloaded case-pack ZIP files are not encrypted by the app.
Activation and new paid letter exports or case packs require an internet connection for licence verification. Local storage does not mean that every feature works offline.
Give your next step a clearer starting point
You do not need to organise every subscription today. Start with one disputed charge, establish the timeline and identify the next question or action.
Open the UK Subscription Recovery Toolkit and try the one-case preview.
General information for UK consumers, not legal advice. Features and access limits checked against the live app on 21 October 2026. Cancellation and refund options depend on your circumstances; using the toolkit does not guarantee a refund or other outcome.
